Job Summary:
Required:
  • Travel between campus and assigned clinical sites as required.
Education Required:
Associate's Degree or greater AND be a graduate of an education program in surgical technology accredited by a nationally recognized programmatic accreditation agency; possess a CST credential in the field of surgical technology through a national certification program that is accredited by the National Commission on Certifying Agencies (NCCA).
    Experience Required:
    Minimum of 5 years experience, either in the operating room scrub role or as an instructor in surgical technology, or a combination of bother, within the last 10 years. Must possess a current CPR certification. Have documented education or experience in instructional methodology, curriculum design and program planning.
    Preferred:
    • BS or Master's in Education or a Health-related field.
    Possess proficiency in instruction methodology, curriculum design, and program planning.
    Summary:
    This 12-month faculty position (229 days/year) serves as the program lead and clinical coordinator. Faculty are expected to provide high-quality, outcomes-based instruction that aligns with the philosophy and objectives of the college. In addition to teaching, faculty participate in college activities, committees, and other duties to support the mission and initiatives of the college.
    Duties Include:
    • Develop AAS-Surgical technician curriculum and degree in alignment with
    ARC/STSA
    standards
    • Teach 45-60 credits across four terms in a variety of modalities
    • Obtain CAAHEP accreditation candidacy status, and HECC approval to offer a surgical technician AAS degree granting program
    • Collaborate with clinical partners in ensuring space allocation for lab instruction
    • Develop admissions processes and selection criteria
    • Responsible for planning, development, and general effectiveness of clinical learning opportunities
    • Evaluate the effectiveness of the clinical experiences and faculty
    • Coordinate the placements of students and clinical instructors for clinical rotations
    • Teach a range of surgical technology courses, labs and clinical rotations
    • Assist in recruitment and scheduling of qualified adjunct faculty to assist with instruction
    • Create a learning environment for students inclusive of diverse cultural, social, economic and educational backgrounds
    • Prepare clear learning outcomes for each course and inform students if learning outcomes in a course syllabus
    • Post and keep office hours
    • Attend division, department, and committee meeting and in-service programs
