Job Description

Clackamas Community College (CCC) seeks to hire a Nursing Instructor . This is an in-person, full-time faculty, union, exempt, and benefits-eligible position located at the Harmony Campus in Milwaukie, Oregon. MINIMUM/MANDATORY EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Master of Science in Nursing, or Bachelor's degree in Nursing and a Master degree in a related field predicated on OSBN approval for exception. Current unencumbered Oregon RN Licensure or ability to obtain upon hire. Must be willing to obtain Washington RN license upon hire. Teaching experience in a nursing program leading to eligibility for RN licensure. Work experience related to medical/surgical, OB, pediatric or mental health nursing. Recent clinical experience in medical/surgical nursing preferred. Three (3) years working experience as a registered nurse. Each full year is equivalent to 1,664 hours. Ability to exemplify traits that reflect the college's culture, including integrity, a customer service orientation, cultural competency, trustworthiness, flexibility and a willingness to change.
PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS
Familiarity with OCNE curriculum and/or local clinical partners associated with CCC. Strong commitment to nursing education and demonstrated commitment to student learning. Experience using a variety of teaching and assessment techniques - including the use of technology to enhance student success. Ability to adapt to varying pedagogical approaches to meet the needs of students with differing learning styles and abilities. Willingness to take a leadership role in the areas of educational and professional expertise. Experience in implementing techniques of critical thinking in the classroom and in clinical settings. Willingness to provide assistance to other department personnel as workload and staffing levels dictate. Willingness to integrate new patient care content and/or refresh direct patient care clinical skills when applicable. TECHNICAL STANDARDS REQUIRED FOR POSITION
The work environmental characteristics described below are representative of the technical standards an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Physical/Motor Nursing faculty members must have the ability to 1) sit, stand, bend, kneel, stoop, reach, and manipulate objects, 2) remain on their feet for extended periods of time, 3) have sufficient strength to lift objects and/or assist students in positioning patients and 4) possess adequate manual dexterity and coordination to operate equipment such as computer keyboard, monitor, projector, calculator, printer, and standard office equipment. Sensory Nursing faculty members must have the ability to obtain or collect information through observation, listening, touching or smelling. Cognitive Nursing faculty members must have the ability to 1) recall, collect, analyze, synthesize, and integrate information from a variety of sources, 2) problem-solve and think critically in order to apply knowledge and skill, 3) communicate verbally, and through reading and writing, with individuals from a variety of social, emotional, cultural, and intellectual backgrounds and 4) relay information in oral and written form effectively, accurately, reliably, and intelligibly to individuals and groups, using the English language. Behavioral Nursing faculty members must have the ability to 1) demonstrate emotional stability to function effectively under stress and adapt to changing environments, 2) maintain effective and sensitive relationships with others, 3) examine and modify their own behavior when it interferes with others or the learning environment, 4) possess attributes that include compassion, empathy, altruism, integrity, honesty, responsibility and tolerance.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervision of other personnel is not a typical function assigned to this position. May provide training and orientation to newly assigned personnel and may assign work to student workers.
