) to teach one clinical section (3 credits) of N560
  • Advanced Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Clinical Practicum I. N560
Advanced Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Clinical Practicum I :
This course extends the clinical application of advanced theory-based practice of nursing in providing primary health care to infants, children, and adolescents in families, including promoting physical and psychosocial health and development and managing various common child, adolescent, and parental concerns. Class topics will be approached from a developmental perspective. Attention will be given to cultural factors as they relate to health care needs. Selected theoretical/conceptual perspectives and current research will serve as the basis for formulating nursing intervention strategies. Clinical experiences in primary care settings will afford students opportunities to apply knowledge and skills in child health assessment, managing the preventive and promotion health needs of infants, children, adolescents, and their families. In addition, the scientific basis of common health problems and factors influencing nursing management of these problems will be examined. Relevant nursing interventions for common health care problems of children in families will be explored, as will the child and family's responses and adaptation to common health problems. Responsibilities
  • The Lecturer appointed to this position is expected to attend all simulations and clinical conferences, perform clinical site visits, provide feedback to students, and provide remediation for students who need additional support.
The Lecturer is responsible for grading all assignments and simulations and bears primary responsibility for computing final grades in a timely fashion. ADD General description required here per LEO contract, 2024-28 that may or may not include the following information: This position includes classroom and clinical teaching that will take place in classroom, virtual, and clinic settings and may include other on-site work hours. Additional settings include the Clinical Learning Center at the School of Nursing. This position requires availability for synchronous activities in face-to-face and virtual formats including: Clinical conference on Zoom on select Mondays from 4-5pm including: 5/11, 5/18, 6/1, 6/15, 6/22, 6/29, 7/13, 7/20, 7/27, 8/10. Additional Zoom activities for 1:1 exercises and office hours with students are scheduled at mutually convenient times. Face-to-Face participation in the on-campus intensive is requested on 6/10 or 6/12 at times arranged with the program lead. Students will complete virtual standardized patient encounters August 4-6. These can be graded synchronously or by watching the recording later. Additional activities include in-person and virtual clinical site visits, preparation of course and program content, and student support for remediation to be coordinated with the program lead.

This appointment is for Spring/Summer term, 2026 only. Required Qualifications
  • A Master of Nursing, DNP, or PhD degree is required.
Preference will be given to applicants who have both didactic and clinical teaching experience and clinical practice experience as a nurse practitioner in Pediatric Primary Care. A nursing license in the State of Michigan is required for this position (current licensure or willingness to obtain licensure). A specialty certification as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (CPNP-PC or
PPCNP-BC
) is required for this position. Prior to start date must be in compliance with all health requirements including standard precautions such as Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, orientations, licenses/certifications, policies and procedures both internal and external to the University for your assigned classroom(s) and/or clinical site(s).
