Job Description

Reporting to the Nursing Department Head, this position serves as a key faculty resource in preparing students for entry into the nursing profession. This role operates in a student-centered academic environment and is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction, supporting student success, and maintaining curriculum standards. The position exercises independent judgment in course design and instruction while ensuring compliance with accreditation standards and college policies. Key Responsibilities Teach nursing courses in classroom, lab, and/or clinical settings using effective instructional practices that promote student learning and engagement. Develop, review, and update course materials, syllabi, and instructional content aligned with program outcomes, accreditation standards, and best practices in nursing education. Evaluate student performance, provide timely feedback, advise students on academic progress, and support student retention and success. Maintain accurate academic records, submit required reports, and ensure compliance with institutional policies and accrediting and regulatory requirements. Participate in program development, curriculum improvement, student recruitment, and collaborate with faculty and college departments. Engage in professional development, committee work, college service activities, and perform other duties as assigned. Master's degree in nursing education or MSN in another area, with willingness to complete a post-master's certificate in Nursing Education or successfully complete the CNE examination within three (3) years of hire. Current, unrestricted South Carolina RN license. Minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience in the primary area of teaching responsibility: medical-surgical nursing. Experience teaching in an associate or bachelor's degree nursing program, preferably in a community college or similar academic environment. Strong knowledge of nursing education and relevant content areas, with experience in curriculum development and student assessment. Proficiency with instructional technologies and Microsoft Office applications, including the ability to support both traditional and distance learning environments. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer-service skills, with strong organizational, problem-solving, and multitasking abilities.
