Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY
The Emergency Department Charge Nurse works closely with the Nursing Director to provide overall leadership and support and acts as a resource to the Emergency Department nursing staff. The Emergency Department Charge Nurse assists in identifying the education needs of individual staff members and/or the ED staff and nursing staff as a whole and assists in planning of educational offerings. The Emergency Department Charge Nurse provides input for performance evaluations and competencies of the ED nursing staff and collaborates with the Nursing Director to improve the overall performance of the Emergency Department. The Emergency Department Charge Nurse is assigned to direct patient care and will utilize administrative time during each pay period to accomplish leadership responsibilities.
REQUIREMENTS
Associate's degree in Nursing 3 years of Nursing - Emergency Room experience State of Alaska RN Licensure BLSP (CPR), ACLS from the American Heart Association PALS from the American Heart Association within 6 months of employment (ENPC may be substituted for PALS) Certified Emergency Nurse from the Board of Certification for Emergency Nursing within 6 months of employment Trauma Nursing Core Course from the Emergency Nursing Association within 6 months of employment According to the Collective Bargaining Agreement 4.2.1 all charge nurse roles at CPH require two years of experience in a staff nurse role, one of which must be at
CPH. ACLS
