About the

Role:

We are seeking a highly qualified Nurse Manager to join our team at UAB Medical West. As a Nurse Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our Med/Surg Telemetry 30-bed unit to include central monitor room, ensuring the highest level of patient care and safety. You will work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement policies and procedures that promote excellence in patient care. Your leadership and management skills will be essential in ensuring the success of our Med/Surg unit.

Minimum Qualifications:

Current RN license in the state of Alabama. Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field. BLS certification or must obtain within 30 days of hire. Must have a minimum of 3 -5 years of experience in acute care with at least 2 years in a supervisory/leadership role required. Must have clinical expertise in the field of nursing specific to the unit (i.e. geri-pscyh, women's, rehab, etc.) Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills. Team player and ability to problem solve Ability to work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree in Nursing or related field. Certification in Nurse Management or related field. Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems. Experience with process improvement methodologies such as Lean or Six Sigma. Experience with budget management and resource allocation.

Responsibilities:

Oversee the daily operations of the Med/Surg unit, including staffing, patient flow, scheduling, payroll, and employee engagement. Develop and implement policies and procedures that promote excellence in patient care and safety. Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the highest level of patient care. Manage and mentor a team of nurses, providing guidance and support as needed. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of patient care and unit operations.

Skills:

As a Nurse Manager, you will utilize your strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills on a daily basis. You will work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the highest level of patient care and safety. Your ability to manage and mentor a team of nurses will be essential in ensuring the success of our Med/Surg unit. Additionally, your experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and process improvement methodologies such as Lean or Six Sigma will be beneficial in streamlining operations and improving patient outcomes.
