Job Description

I have openings for nights prn possibly full time. Apply in person at Lakeside Nursing Center. Overview We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or RN to serve as a Charge Nurse in our healthcare facility. The ideal candidate will possess extensive clinical expertise, leadership skills, and a compassionate approach to patient care. This role involves overseeing nursing staff, coordinating patient treatments, and ensuring compliance with healthcare standards. Candidates with experience in various settings such as long-term care, acute care, emergency medicine, geriatrics, and specialized areas like Alzheimer's and dementia care are highly encouraged to apply. Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR/PCC) and familiarity with ICD coding, medication administration, and infection control are essential for success in this position. Duties Supervise nursing staff and coordinate daily clinical operations to ensure high-quality patient care. Conduct comprehensive patient assessments including vital signs, physical examinations, and physiological evaluations. Administer medications, injections, IV infusions, and perform venipuncture or catheter care following sterile techniques. Manage complex cases such as acute pain management, trauma cases (Level I & II Trauma Center experience), infectious disease care, and hospice services. Document all patient interactions accurately using EMR/EHR systems like Cerner, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks while maintaining HIPAA compliance. Oversee discharge planning, case management, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams for post-acute and home care services. Provide specialized care including Alzheimer's/dementia/memory care, behavioral health support, tube feeding management, ventilator monitoring, and wound suturing when necessary. Ensure infection control protocols are strictly followed and maintain aseptic techniques during all procedures. Participate in staff training on medical terminology, ICD/ICD-10/ICD-9 coding, CPT coding, and other documentation standards. Support emergency response efforts including airway management and basic life support during critical situations. Skills Proven experience in diverse clinical environments such as ICU, emergency room, pediatrics (including neonatal ventilator), outpatient clinics, or home & community care settings. Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pharmacology, medical terminology, and diagnostic evaluation techniques. Skilled in patient assessment tools including vital signs monitoring and physical examinations. Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth; familiarity with medical imaging documentation is a plus. Ability to perform advanced procedures like spinal taps or gastric lavage; experience with dialysis or DME is advantageous. Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with healthcare teams and patients of all ages—including children with developmental disabilities or those requiring specialized Alzheimer's or dementia care. Leadership qualities to manage staff effectively while ensuring compliance with NCQA standards and infection control policies. Capable of working in high-pressure environments such as trauma centers or urgent care settings; experience in hospital medicine or post-acute care is preferred. Knowledge of ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), CPT coding for procedures like dermal fillers or botulinum toxin treatments is desirable.
