$150-$200k + Benefits (Mid-Senior Level Experience) (Pay Varies Depending on experience) Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Assistant Nurse Manager (NICU) to join our healthcare team. In this leadership role, you will oversee clinical operations within the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), ensuring the delivery of exceptional patient care for critically ill newborns. You will support nursing staff through supervision, mentorship, and coordination of care, while maintaining compliance with hospital policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical expertise in neonatal and acute care settings, along with proven management skills to foster a collaborative and efficient work environment. Duties Provide direct supervision and leadership to NICU nursing staff, promoting best practices in neonatal and critical care nursing. Oversee patient assessments, vital signs monitoring, and physiological evaluations to ensure high-quality patient care. Coordinate multidisciplinary team efforts for complex cases involving ventilator management, IV infusion therapy, catheterization, and infection control procedures. Ensure accurate medical documentation using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner, including medical records, nursing notes, and discharge planning. Assist with staffing schedules, performance evaluations, and ongoing staff education to meet hospital standards and NCQA (National Committee for Quality Assurance) standards. Support clinical procedures such as neonatal ventilator management, spinal taps, gastric lavage, and sterile processing protocols. Participate in quality improvement initiatives related to infection control, acute pain management, and patient safety within the NICU. Collaborate with physicians and specialists in areas such as cardiology (cardiac catheterization), sonography, laboratory testing, and medical imaging. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations regarding patient privacy and confidentiality. Facilitate effective communication among team members to optimize patient outcomes and family-centered care. Requirements Current RN licensure with at least three years of clinical experience in neonatal intensive care or pediatric acute care units. Prior supervisory or nurse management experience within a hospital setting preferred. Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner; familiarity with
ICD-9/ICD-10
coding for documentation accuracy. Extensive knowledge of neonatal physiology, anatomy, and specialized procedures including ventilator management and IV insertion. Demonstrated ability to lead teams effectively while fostering a positive work environment. Strong understanding of infection control practices, aseptic techniques, and sterile processing protocols. Experience working with diverse populations including infants requiring specialized care such as memory care or developmental disabilities. Excellent communication skills for liaising with physicians, families, and multidisciplinary teams. Knowledge of healthcare regulations including HIPAA compliance and NCQA standards related to patient safety and quality assurance. Ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently in a fast-paced hospital environment.
