Job Summary:
The Operating Room Nurse Manager is responsible and accountable for the delivery of safe, effective, patient care in the operating room. Duties include coordinating the activities of the operating room, sterile processing, scheduling and housekeeping. The Operating Room Manager conducts all responsibilities in a manner that promotes the mission, vision and values of Greater Sacramento Surgery Center (GSSC).Essential Job Functions:

Verifies that perioperative personnel provide safe and effective patient-centered care in perioperative services. Assists perioperative personnel in evaluating practice and creating strategies for further improvement. Verifies that educational resources are available for perioperative services personnel and holds personnel accountable for compliance with established standards. Demonstrates effective communication, consultation, negotiation, and collaboration skills with members of the perioperative team. Use effective conflict resolution techniques. Evaluates perioperative personnel performance. Interviews for perioperative personnel selection. Make daily assignments for the operating room personnel, assuring that all operating rooms have appropriate staff assigned. Monitors time and attendance of staff and ensures that all staff have appropriate breaks and lunches. Assists perioperative personnel in verifying that appropriate personnel, equipment, and supplies are available. Verifies departmental compliance with organizational policies and procedures and regulatory and accreditation standards. Provides guidance, support, and constructive feedback to perioperative personnel team members and other team members as appropriate. Will complete annual performance evaluation for OR staff team members in a timely manner. Exhibits professional, interpersonal, and communication skills. Pursues professional growth and participates in a professional organization. Assesses and responds appropriately to organizational culture. Pursues professional growth by sharing knowledge, attending, and being involved in professional organizations. Acts as a patient advocate and maintains privacy and confidentiality of all appropriate information. Will conduct regular meetings/huddles with OR staff. Collaborate with medical staff regarding supply and equipment needs. Will report to the Director of Nursing and Managing Partners at designated intervals all related operational information. Maintains Specimen Log, confirming specimens are transported by the appropriate lab and that reports are returned in a timely fashion. Maintains Implant Log for all patient implants and that appropriate paperwork is mailed and /or faxed. Maintains regulatory requirements, including all state, federal and local regulations.Requirements:
Education, Licensure and Experience High School Diploma or GED Required. Bachelor's degree in nursing or equivalent discipline required. Registered California Nursing License required. Documentation of currentBLS/ACLS/PALS
required. 5 years direct nursing operating room experience preferred. 2 years leadership experience in an operating room or equivalent environment required. Required Skills and Abilities Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with a team. Knowledge of the County Health Department procedures and practices. Skill in organizing and prioritizing workloads to meet deadlines. Ability to develop policies and procedures. Ability to teach and evaluate clinical performance. Completes annual education requirements in a timely manner. Always represents the organization in a positive and professional manner. Comply with all organizational policies and standards regarding ethical business practices. Ability to exercise sound discretion and strict maintenance of all confidential and sensitive communications and information. Excellent active listening and critical thinking skills. Self-motivated with strong organizational, multi-tasking, planning, and follow up skills. Ability to solve advanced level problems with minimal supervision. Ability to multi-task, exercise excellent time management, and meet multiple deadlines. Ability to provide and receive constructive job and/or industry related feedback. Ability to effectively and positively work in a dynamic, fast-paced team environment and achieve objectives.
