Medical & Health•Nurse Leadership Position Overview We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Registered Nurse Manager (RN)•Labor & Delivery to lead and support a high-performing Labor & Delivery team within a leading acute care hospital. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing clinical operations, patient care delivery, staff development, and operational excellence within the department. The Nurse Manager will provide leadership and direction to nursing staff while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, quality initiatives, patient safety protocols, and organizational goals. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical expertise in Labor & Delivery, proven leadership experience, and a passion for delivering exceptional maternal and newborn care. Key Responsibilities-Clinical Leadership Provide leadership, guidance, and supervision to Labor & Delivery nursing staff. Ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centered care. Support and promote evidence-based nursing practices and clinical excellence. Monitor patient care outcomes and implement quality improvement initiatives. Ensure compliance with all hospital policies, state regulations, accreditation standards, and nursing practice guidelines. Operational Management Assist in planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating department operations. Manage staffing schedules, productivity, and resource utilization. Monitor departmental performance metrics and drive continuous improvement efforts. Collaborate with physicians, clinical leaders, and interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes. Ensure efficient workflow and patient throughput within the Labor & Delivery unit. Staff Development & Engagement Mentor, coach, and develop nursing staff to achieve professional growth. Support recruitment, onboarding, retention, and performance management activities. Facilitate staff education, competency assessments, and ongoing training programs. Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and excellence. Promote employee engagement and participation in Shared Governance initiatives. Quality & Compliance Participate in quality assurance, risk management, and patient safety programs. Investigate and address patient care concerns and clinical incidents. Ensure compliance with Joint Commission standards and regulatory requirements. Lead initiatives focused on improving patient satisfaction and clinical outcomes. Leadership Presence Serve as a management resource across assigned shifts. Support the Director/Manager in strategic planning and departmental initiatives. Act as a role model for professional nursing practice and organizational values. Required QualificationsEducation Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited School of Nursing. Registered Nurses employed in this role prior to November 1, 2024, are encouraged to pursue a BSN degree; obtaining the degree will not be a condition of employment. Licensure & Certifications Active California Registered Nurse (RN) License. Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA). Experience Minimum of 2 years of Registered Nurse experience in a dedicated Labor & Delivery unit within an acute care hospital. Minimum of 2 years of Charge Nurse experience in a Labor & Delivery department. Demonstrated leadership and team management experience. Preferred Qualifications Recent clinical experience in an acute care hospital setting. Recent Labor & Delivery nursing experience. Charge Nurse or Relief Charge Nurse experience. Experience participating in Shared Governance programs. Experience managing multidisciplinary healthcare teams. Strong knowledge of maternal-child health practices and standards.
