Job Description

The Immediate Care Charge Registered Nurse (IC Charge RN) under the supervision of the IC management team assumes a leadership role for the daily clinic operations, facilitates morning huddles and will serve as a mentor to departmental staff. The Charge RN will assess and evaluate patients and will communicate patient's health status to the Provider. Professional Duties Ensure that clinical outcomes are followed per departmental policy and procedures as it pertains to the delivery of patient care. Responsible for processing lab specimen and test performance. Submit test results to provider for final verification. Assist management team with departmental staff, monitor performance identify areas for improvement, and help facilitate appropriate resources and training. Assume a leadership role for the daily operations and facilitate morning staff huddles. Serve as mentor of departmental staff. Provide communication and education materials to new departmental staff as requested by the departmental management team, and disseminate daily updates and staff reminders of pertinent information, including new processes and upcoming meetings. Monitor wait, triage and discharge times to ensure effective and efficient departmental workflows. Escalate concerns to department management as deemed appropriate. Evaluate and assess patients and communicate identified unstable conditions to providers in real time Administer medication as ordered by the Provider and in accordance with departmental policies and procedures. Perform electrocardiograms as ordered by the provider in accordance with established departmental policies and procedures. Perform wound care dressing application, suture application/removal, splint application/removal when requested by Provider and in accordance with established departmental policies and procedures. Assist Providers with invasive and/or non-invasive procedures, as needed. Ensure that established testing protocols relevant to IC, such as COVID, Flu, RSV and Strep are adhered to in accordance with compliance standards. Document patient assessments and interactions in the electronic medical record (EMR) in accordance with departmental and organizational policies and procedures. Responsible for quality control activities, including medication audits, refrigerator temperature checks, and crash cart checks, are performed accurately and within established timeframes in accordance with departmental policies and procedures. Respond to all codes timely and effectively. Perform other duties as assigned. Be observant of others' social cues (emotions) and respond appropriately Speak clearly and use understandable language (avoid medical jargon or slang) Summarize key information and provide written materials whenever possible Validate to ensure understanding Use open-ended questions to engage Demonstrate appropriate body language and tone of voice Speak positively about your work, co-workers and Desert Oasis Healthcare and Family Hospice Care See the positive in situations and in others Avoid gossip and negativity Offer to answer any additional questions that the person, patient or customer may have Inform patients and co-workers of how and when to contact you under normal circumstances (phone number, email, a help line, Immediate Care, etc.) or when unforeseen issues arise Qualifications Associates Degree in Nursing. Bachelor of Science in Nursing, preferred. Current California RN License. 2 years of RN experience. RN experience in acute care, emergency room, urgent care, or immediate care, preferred. 1 year of experience as a Charge Nurse, Supervisor, or in Teaching/Preceptorship, preferred. Knowledgeable in scope of practice. Ability to communicate effectively with individuals within all levels of the organization, patients, providers, and others. Ability to work independently. Ability to utilize critical thinking and judgment to problem solve. Proficient with I.V. skills. BLS and ACLS required.
