Job Description

JOIN OUR TEAM AS A
Program Nurse Director! Ridgeview Institute is part of leading behavioral healthcare network in Georgia, we provide comprehensive care within a safe, structured, and highly supportive environment. The Nurse Director holds professional accountability for the nursing care provided to the patients. Using the Nursing Process in the delivery of care, the Nurse Director, under the direct supervision of the Chief Nursing Officer directs, guides and supervises the direct care activities of nursing staff while maintaining the Standards of Professional Nursing and an environment conducive to the highest quality of care.
PROFESSIONAL LEADERSHIP
: 1. Provides assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care in compliance with State, Federal, Joint Commission and professional nursing standards of care for the Addiction patients. Ensures program compliance with these standards. 2. Assesses quality of nursing care by direct observation, chart review, review of patient questionnaires and by attendance at meetings where patient care is discussed. 3. Serves as a resource by assisting nursing staff in conducting sound clinical assessments of patients. 4. Assesses patients for appropriateness for admission upon request from referral sources or Access Center. 5. Serves as a clinical and managerial resource person to nursing staff in planning patient care in a manner that adheres to Ridgeview Institute Policies and Procedures and reflects knowledge of Addiction and addictive diseases nursing principles. 6. Promotes the active participation of nursing staff as members of the treatment team where individualized treatment plans are developed for Addictions patients. 7. Researches programmatic inquiries, patient/family/physician complaints, etc. Takes corrective action or refers to appropriate authority for resolution. 8. Evaluates the effectiveness of the program and makes recommendation for changes to improve the program content and structure. 9. Establishes and maintains program schedules. 10. Assumes primary responsibility for overseeing all Addiction program's PI activities, including identifying new monitoring indicators, assessing current indicators for continued appropriateness, compiling an annual Program PI/Risk Report, summarizing trends in program improvement and defining direction of upcoming year's Program PI activities. Presents all Program PI reports to Hospital PI Committee for review and approval. Communicates all Program PI activities to front-line staff on an on-going basis. 11. As requested, conducts formal concurrent chart review and presents results to the Medical Records Review Committee. 12. With the assistance of Director of Inpatient Services, monitors clinical staff practice for adherence to professional standards. Utilizes peer review activities, if necessary.
SAFETY/RISK MANAGEMENT
: 1. Monitors the patient and staff areas for safety and cleanliness. Maintains a therapeutic environment. 2. Provides for inspection of emergency box and Treatment Rooms to maintain supplies and cleanliness, as evidenced by the completed Emergency Box Checklist and the Treatment Room Checklist. 3. Investigates critical incidents, such as patient care concerns, incident reports, verbal complaints from patients, patient community, physicians, staff, other departments. 4. Involves staff input, as appropriate, with investigation of incidents and communicates findings, including any program/policy changes, to program staff. 5. Reviews or writes reports of errors, injuries, infections and patient care or ethical concerns and conducts further investigation if needed. Submits reports to Risk Manager in accordance with Ridgeview Institute Policies. 6. Provides for inspection of medication rooms to insure cleanliness, safety and compliance with medication policies. 7. Evaluates restraint/seclusion episodes and provides staff supervision, as necessary.
STAFFING
: 1. Reviews employment applications and/or resumes in response to program staff or RN employment needs. Informs the CNO and Human Resources of positions to be posted. 2. Schedules and conducts interviews with potential candidates. 3. Checks references, evaluates results of background checks and urine drug screens to determine eligibility for employment. 4. Coordinates the hiring of new staff with Human Resources. 5. Enforces personnel policies consistently and equitably. Counsels nursing staff and takes appropriate disciplinary action for infractions of Ridgeview Institute policies and terms of employment. 6. Facilitates the new employee's orientation to the unit and to their job responsibilities by directly observing performance and by completion of the Nursing Department Orientation Checklist, Job Descriptions, signature cards, Staff Data Sheet, Time Card/Staffing Guidelines. 7. Maintains individual nursing staff personnel files which includes, current certification, competency status, disciplinary actions, required inservices, employee recognition, etc. 8. Collaborates with the Nursing Supervisors to provide staffing levels based on safety and acuity and cost containment priorities. 9. Participates with the CNO, DON and the Director of Clinical Services in the recruitment, hiring and assignment of duties of nursing staff. 10. Assesses the need for staff on-unit inservice and hospital-wide education for the purpose of improved patient care and is responsible for scheduling and maintaining the levels of competency of his/her staff. 11. Assures staff attendance in hospital-wide orientation and annual inservice updates. Provides for on-going professional growth and development of nursing staff by facilitating monthly on-unit inservices that address staff education needs and competency requirements. 12. Posts inservice schedules in advance in order to allow staff participation. 13. Submits timely and accurate records of staff education, i.e., on-unit inservices, seminars and workshops attended. 14. Provides to the Nursing Office accurate records of staff competency measures, i.e., completed competency tests, checklists, skills demonstrations. 15. Incorporates results of competency measures into annual performance evaluations. 16. Bases staff performance evaluations on job description criteria and professional standards and discusses achievements and future goals with each employee. Forwards the completed performance review to Nursing Administration in a timely manner. The essential job functions of this position are not limited to the duties listed above. Your Experience Matters What we're looking for:
Education :
Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing required or equivalent combination of education and experience in psychiatric nursing management; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
Experience :
A minimum of three (3) years' experience in a psychiatric health-care facility.
Licensure :
Currently licensed to practice by the
Georgia Board of Nursing Additional Requirements :
Thorough knowledge of The
JOINT COMMISSION, CMS, OSHA
requirements, and state and federal regulatory requirements. CPR certification and successful completion of CPI within 90 days of employment, and prior to assisting in restraining procedures.

Compensation:
This is a full-time , Exempt role and the expected compensation range is between $50,000 and $90,000 Annually.
