Night Shift Supervisor (RN/LPN)Shift:
6p-2a M-F Position Summary The Night Shift Unit Manager Nurse is responsible for overseeing the delivery of resident care during overnight hours in a long-term care facility. This role ensures high-quality, safe, and compliant care while supervising nursing staff, coordinating clinical activities, and responding to resident needs and emergencies. Key Responsibilities Clinical Oversight Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate resident care plans Monitor residents for changes in condition and initiate appropriate interventions Ensure accurate and timely documentation in medical records Administer medications and treatments per physician orders and facility policies Respond to emergencies and provide leadership during critical situations Staff Supervision Supervise and support nursing staff (RNs, LPNs, CNAs) on the unit Assign duties and ensure adequate staffing levels Provide guidance, coaching, and performance feedback Assist with orientation and training of new staff Regulatory Compliance Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., CMS guidelines) Follow infection control protocols and safety procedures Participate in audits, quality assurance, and performance improvement activities Communication & Coordination Communicate effectively with physicians, families, and interdisciplinary team members Provide detailed shift reports and ensure continuity of care between shifts Notify appropriate parties of significant changes in resident condition Administrative Duties Maintain staffing schedules and report staffing concerns Review incident reports and follow up as needed Ensure supplies and equipment are available and functioning properly Qualifications Current, active RN or LPN license in the state of practice (e.g., Indiana) Minimum of 2-3 years of nursing experience, preferably in long-term care or skilled nursing Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills Excellent communication and organizational abilities Working Conditions Night shift hours, including weekends and holidays as required Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting (up to 50 lbs with assistance) Exposure to healthcare environment conditions, including infectious diseases Key Competencies Leadership and team management Clinical decision-making Time management and prioritization Attention to detail Compassionate resident-centered careSimilar jobs in Muncie, IN
