Nurse Care Manager (NCM) Qualifications The Nurse Care Manager (NCM) must be licensed in the State of Maine as a Registered Nurse. A bachelor's degree in Nursing is preferred. The NCM is required to have a minimum of five (5) years of experience in a Nurse Care Manager or similar role. Preference will be given to candidates with experience providing nursing services to individuals with intellectual disabilities, mental illness, and co-occurring disorders. The NCM must demonstrate strong technological proficiency, including prior experience utilizing electronic medical record (EMR) systems. Nurse Care Manager (NCM) Responsibilities The Nurse Care Manager (NCM) is responsible for implementing relevant clinical and medical policies and procedures. The NCM shall coordinate, monitor, and communicate treatment plans for individuals with complex medical, psychiatric, and behavioral conditions. The NCM will advocate for the healthcare needs of individuals by collaborating with community resources and healthcare providers. Additionally, the NCM shall provide education and support to both staff and individuals served. The NCM is responsible for overseeing quality of care and ensuring a high standard of customer service within the scope of this role. The position also requires completion of accurate, timely, and evidence-based progress documentation and reporting. The NCM must recognize that individuals receiving services may have multiple concurrent conditions. For example, a person with a primary diagnosis of mental illness may also experience substance use disorders, cognitive disabilities, or additional medical conditions. These are referred to as co-occurring disorders.
