More than 400 physicians and nearly 2,000 employees work at McLaren Macomb making it one of Macomb County's top employers. McLaren Macomb provides a full range of services, including cancer care, surgical services, orthopedics and cardiovascular care. As Macomb County's first verified Level II trauma center , the hospital operates the busiest emergency department in Macomb County.
Nurse Manager/Clinical Manager/ Manager Patient Care Services Clinical Support Services, Staffing Office, Float Pool Full Time Day Position Summary:
Manages the resources for the department to ensure quality patient outcomes, patient satisfaction, and cost-effective care. Develops and empowers staff, forges collaborative and team relationships within nursing department and with other disciplines and departments. Promotes professional nursing care consistent with standards and policies of hospital and nursing department.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
1. Establishes standards and practices within department to advance patient satisfaction. Demonstrates therapeutic interactions with patients, families, and health team members. 2. Develops department standards and goals; facilitates attainment of dept. standards and goals. 3. Collaborates with multiple disciplines in maintaining quality of care and enhances patient care by communicating with ancillary departments, medical staff, etc. Acts as a role model regarding collaboration and partnerships with physicians and other departments. Maintains forum to enhance communications at all levels. 4. Ensures effective recruitment, hiring, retention, corrective action, and competency assessment process for employees in assigned departments. Conducts performance appraisals. Supports organizational and nursing policies related to staffing and employee relations. 5. Plans and accurately forecasts budgeting needs for capital expenditures, staffing requirements, and material expenses. Assists with analysis of budget variance, developing corrective action plans as necessary to attain identified target 6. Uses QA process for collecting data, problem identification, implementation and evaluation to resolve problems. Actively supports QA goals and actions within department. 7. Conducts annual review of policies, procedures, and standards for the department and takes action to update them as necessary. 8. Participates in the development of goals/objectives and strategies for the department, and division of Nursing Services. 9. Works with nursing and medical staff to determine the quality indicators and organizes efforts to continually improve that quality.
Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing or completion of BSN within three years of date of hire or transfer into this role. Three to five years of experience in Medical Surgical, especially Orthopedics and Oncolgy Current Sate of Michigan Registered Nurse license BLS certification from American Heart Association (AHA), American Red Cross (ARC), or Canadian equivalent, is required before start date and valid at least 60 days beyond start date. Three years of prior work experience in progressive, professional nursing experience including program development, implementation and evaluation that demonstrate managerial and leadership skills
Preferred:
Master of Science in Nursing Five years of prior work experience in progressive, professional nursing experience including program development, implementation and evaluation that demonstrate managerial and leadership skills
