Back House Manager SDHS - Days/Nights St. Dominic Hospital Jackson, MS, United States Jun 17, 2026 Nursing Job Description Supervises to ensure that high quality patient-focused health care is delivered, meeting the individual needs and desires of the patients on the various nursing units during the assigned shift of duty and in assigned area(s) of responsibility. Leadership Provides leadership through planning and organizing, problem solving, clarifying roles and objectives, informing, monitoring, consulting and delegating. Exhibits ethical behavior in all professional activities. Provides leadership and demonstrates critical thinking ability in all areas of responsibility, treats all co-workers with respect, strives to enhance co-worker performance through cooperation and effective communication, and demonstrates hospitality and courtesy in all interactions. Identifies barriers to communication and avoids or compensates for barriers. Unit Management and Daily Operations Collaborates with Nurse Managers and Staffing Coordinators in assessing patient care and staffing needs for the unit. Directs and is responsible for the ongoing assessment of hospital, patient, and staffing needs throughout the assigned shift of duty and area(s) of responsibility. Utilizes communication and information technology effectively and appropriately. Collaborates in the ongoing evaluation of patient care and patient outcomes in order to facilitate the development of appropriate unit goals and objectives. Demonstrates fiscal and clinical responsibility when making assignments, along with identifying the necessary skill mix. Demonstrates clinical expertise in directing the utilization of multidisciplinary health care services, alternative levels of care, and available community resources in a manner that ensures optimal continuity in the health care delivery. Demonstrates the ability to facilitate positive interactions with patients, families, peers and staff on a regular basis. Maintains clinical skills in order to better serve the nursing staff on the various units. Performance Improvement and Quality Collaborates with local physicians and area hospitals in facilitating patient bed placement. Is knowledgeable of EMTALA rules and regulations and uses said knowledge in data gathering of physician requesting to send patients from ECU to ECU. Refers patient data to physicians for acceptance or denial of transfer. Demonstrates knowledge regarding the documentation system and all aspects of appropriate documentation. Oversees the quality of care given to our customers. Observes and adheres to all departmental and hospital policies and procedures, and follows all safety, quality assurance, and infection control standards.
