This facility serves as the region's only trauma center, comprehensive stroke center, Level III NICU, and children's hospital in Western North Carolina. Position Overview This leadership role is responsible for the daily operations of a 40-bed Cardiovascular Progressive Care Unit (4 Heart), with direct oversight of a team of approximately 56 staff members. The Nurse Manager works closely with nursing leadership and interdisciplinary partners to ensure high-quality cardiovascular care, operational efficiency, and strong staff engagement. The role blends clinical leadership, financial oversight, and human resource management, with a strong emphasis on creating a supportive environment that promotes professional growth and evidence-based practice. Key Responsibilities Oversee daily operations of the Cardiovascular Progressive Care Unit Manage staffing, scheduling, and team performance for a 40-bed unit Integrate clinical, financial, and human resource data to support decision-making Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and professional nursing practices Collaborate with nursing leadership on organizational planning and improvement initiatives Promote evidence-based practice and high-quality cardiovascular patient care Support recruitment, onboarding, retention, and professional development of staff Foster a positive work environment focused on teamwork and continuous learning Participate in quality improvement efforts and evaluation of clinical outcomes Provide administrative on-call support approximately once every six weeks Qualifications BSN required; MSN or equivalent preferred Active Registered Nurse license in North Carolina or eligible under compact licensure National certification in nursing leadership or clinical specialty required within one year of hire BLS certification required Minimum of 5 years of recent nursing experience required At least 2 years of acute care hospital experience with demonstrated leadership responsibilities required Post-cardiothoracic care experience required Charge nurse or manager-level leadership experience required Benefits Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage Paid time off and holiday benefits Retirement savings program Continuing education and professional development support Sign-on bonus available Opportunity to lead a high-acuity cardiovascular progressive care unit within a Magnet®-designated academic-level medical center Strong interdisciplinary collaboration and leadership support environment
