Job Description

Attention Nurses, come and explore a career opportunity as the School Health Nursing Program Manager at Forsyth County's Department of Public Health. This position is responsible for the management and coordination of School Health Nursing Services provided to the Winston-Salem Forsyth County School System. School Health Nursing Services are provided through a contract with the school system and Public Health. This position provides direct supervision to four nursing supervisors and indirect supervision to 39 RNs/LPNs working in various school sites across Forsyth County.
Key Preference:
One year of School Health Nursing experience.
Work Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM; Occasional evenings and Saturday mornings/afternoons.

A successful candidate will possess the following skills and knowledge: Considerable knowledge and skill in the administration and organization of a Public Health Nursing program. Considerable knowledge of Public Health and/or School Health Nursing and supervision of staff and programs. Possession of current Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR certification. Considerable knowledge of the resources and organizations concerned with Public Health work in North Carolina, and current social and economic problems pertaining to Public Health. Working knowledge of Public Health administration on the local level. Working knowledge of educational methods and training techniques. Working knowledge of State and Federal laws relating to Public Health. Ability to plan, coordinate, and supervise the work of others and to present findings, comments, and opinions clearly and concisely in oral and/or written form. Ability to exercise good judgment in appraising situations and making decisions. Ability to plan and execute work effectively and to deal tactfully with the public and other health professionals. Knowledge in public administration budget and contract principals. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Graduation from a four-year college or university with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing and four years of Registered Nurse (RN) experience which includes at least three years of nursing supervisory experience. Must be licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolinas by the N.C. Board of Nursing. A higher education level may be considered as a substitution for part of the experience. Must have a valid Driver's License. Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: Leading, planning, implementing, coordinating, monitoring and evaluating the School Health program. Development of policies and procedures that meet all state and local board of education regulations and statutes. Budget and contract management. Orienting staff and assessing training needs and facilitating activities to meet those needs. Performs related work as required.
