Position Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Charge Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Medical Surgical team on a full-time basis. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, clinical expertise, and compassion, ensuring high-quality patient care while effectively overseeing nursing operations during their assigned shift.   • Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct patient care, managing a small patient assignment (1-3 patients) when required, with a focus on exceptional clinical outcomes.
  • Assume leadership responsibilities as the Charge Nurse, supervising RNs, LPNs, and LNAs, delegating tasks appropriately, and ensuring care standards are maintained.
  • Oversee staffing logistics by coordinating breaks, creating and adjusting nursing assignments based on patient acuity, discharges, and admissions to optimize unit workflow.
  • Support the clinical team by assisting with patient care activities, monitoring lab/test results, following up on referrals, and collaborating with departments such as pharmacy, radiology, and laboratory services.
  • Act as a resource for nursing staff, providing mentorship and precepting new nurses to facilitate their successful transition into the team.
  • Communicate effectively with the nursing team and hospital management regarding daily operations, patient transfers, admissions, discharges, and bed management.
  • Serve as the House Supervisor during off-shift hours, maintaining oversight of unit activities, bed availability, and coordinating with the on-call administrator as needed.
  • Liaise with external facilities regarding bed availability to support seamless patient transfers.
  • Monitor compliance with documentation standards, ensuring timely and accurate charting.
  • Address immediate performance concerns and resolve conflicts to maintain a positive and efficient work environment.

Qualifications:
  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of New Hampshire.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification is required.
  • Demonstrated clinical expertise in medical-surgical nursing.
  • Prior experience in a charge or leadership role preferred.
  • Excellent critical thinking, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
