Operating Room Nurse Manager

• Cardiac Surgery/Thoracic Transplant Job Description As an Operating Room Nurse Manager specializing in Cardiac Surgery and Thoracic Transplant, you will provide 24/7 leadership and accountability for unit operations and staff performance.

You will support nursing leadership in developing strategic goals aligned with the organizational mission, vision, and values. You will foster a healing environment that promotes patient and family-centered care while championing evidence-based, ethical, and compassionate practices. Responsibilities Communicate objectives clearly, build consensus, and guide the team toward achieving departmental goals. Create a professional workplace that encourages respect, engagement, accountability, and optimal outcomes. Manage staffing needs for the unit and collaborate with HR on recruitment and requirements. Offer guidance and direction to team members and supervisors. Oversee performance evaluations, promotions, compensation decisions, and corrective actions. Serve as a role model for clinical, educational, and leadership standards. Assist team members with career development planning. Educate staff on new and existing departmental procedures and systems, including technology and fiscal responsibilities. Manage the unit's budget, monitor expenditures, and implement corrective actions for variances. Track and analyze performance metrics to drive continuous improvement. Ensure adherence to established care delivery models and professional practice standards. Maintain compliance with all applicable regulations and organizational policies. Demonstrate current clinical knowledge relevant to the patient population served. Stay informed on healthcare legislation, standards of practice, and population health trends. Identify and lead initiatives to improve operations using evidence-based strategies. Essential Skills 6-8 years of Cardiac Surgery/Thoracic Transplant nursing experience and 2-5 years in a leadership or management role. Bachelor of Science in Nursing required; Master's degree preferred. Active Registered Nurse license in New York State required. Minimum 2 years of Operating Room experience required. Additional Skills & Qualifications Relevant specialty certifications as applicable. CNOR certification preferred. Prior experience working in a non-union based position. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Great Neck, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $140000.00
