Suffolk County Community College is the largest community college in the State University of New York (SUNY) system, enrolling more than 26,000 students at its three campuses in Selden, Brentwood, and Riverhead, as well as its Culinary Arts Center in Riverhead. Established in 1959, the college offers a wide array of transfer-oriented associate degrees in the liberal arts and sciences; business; communications and the arts; computing and cybersecurity; health sciences; and many other areas. Career-facing degrees and certificates are offered in allied health professions, automotive technology, culinary and baking, manufacturing, and many other areas. The college provides high school concurrent enrollment opportunities to thousands of students each year through both Suffolk's Beacon program and through on-campus early college classes. Designated by the U.S. Department of Education as a Hispanic Serving Institution, Suffolk enrolls thousands of students in English Language Learning courses, and also serves more service veterans and military-connected students than any other college in the SUNY system. SUNY Suffolk is searching for a temporary grant-funded, full-time (12-month), Professional Assistant (PA) - Clinical Coordinator to support the Jane F. Shearer School of Nursing to begin as soon as possible at the Ammerman campus in Selden. This is a five (5) year grant-funded position funded by the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH), with the possibility of yearly extensions. The successful candidate will be employed for periods concurrent with the grant award and availability of funding. This is a Unit III position covered under the Faculty Association of Suffolk County Community College collective bargaining agreement with the college. The Clinical Coordinator supports the implementation of a New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) grant-funded student success initiative designed to enhance retention, resilience, and timely degree completion for students enrolled in the CNA, CMA, Practical Nursing, and Registered Nursing programs. This position reports directly to the Associate Dean for Nursing.Job Responsibilities:
Serve as the primary liaison between the nursing programs and clinical site personnel. Oversee, track, and maintain student and faculty onboarding processes to ensure compliance with clinical requirements. Maintain clinical affiliation agreements and ensure adherence to facility policies, regulatory standards, and program expectations. Request, coordinate, and monitor clinical placements in collaboration with Academic Chairs. Address and support the resolution of clinical site concerns, scheduling conflicts, and placement‑related issues. Assist faculty with the development and distribution of clinical orientation materials and maintain updated faculty qualification documentation. Provide faculty support regarding clinical site expectations, policies, procedures, and communication protocols. Manage accurate records of clinical placements, compliance documentation, and clinical site requirements. Facilitate student and faculty access to electronic health record systems and other onboarding platforms required by clinical partners. Participate in program and department meetings as required. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Associate Dean for the Jane F. Shearer School of Nursing.The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

Builds strong, positive working relationships and communicates effectively with diverse groups, including clinical staff, program leadership, and academic teams. Demonstrates a high level of accuracy and attention to detail when managing sensitive, compliance‑related information. Approaches tasks with initiative, anticipating needs, preventing issues before they arise, and ensuring onboarding processes remain smooth and timely. Works collaboratively, contributing to a supportive learning environment that enhances student success across Nursing and Allied Health programs. Embraces process improvement, identifying opportunities to streamline workflows and strengthen coordination with external clinical partners. Maintains a student‑centered mindset, recognizing the impact of clinical placements, onboarding, and site readiness on student progress and completion. Demonstrated experience in writing professional email correspondence and verbal communication.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Bachelor's degree with a minimum of one (1) year of relevant professional experience in administrative office operations. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with demonstrated experience maintaining accurate records using spreadsheets and reporting tools. Preferred Experience in higher education, workforce development, or healthcare training programs. Knowledge of clinical placement coordination and clinical onboarding requirements.HIRING SALARY
