Job Description

Overview We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Director of Nursing (DON) to lead and oversee nursing operations at our Smithtown Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC). This vital role involves ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care, managing nursing staff, and maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations. The DON will serve as a clinical leader, fostering a collaborative environment that emphasizes safety, efficiency, and compassionate care. Duties Provide overall management and supervision of nursing staff, including registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, and certified nursing assistants. Develop, implement, and monitor care plans tailored to each patient's needs while ensuring adherence to clinical standards and regulatory requirements. Oversee documentation review, medical records management, and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy. Coordinate with physicians, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to facilitate smooth surgical procedures and post-operative care. Manage staffing schedules, shift assignments, and resource allocation to ensure optimal coverage during all operating hours. Maintain proficiency in EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems and EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems for accurate documentation and reporting. Ensure compliance with Medicare guidelines and other regulatory bodies while maintaining high standards of safety and quality assurance. Lead quality improvement initiatives, including review of care plans, incident reports, and documentation review to enhance patient outcomes. Support staff development through supervising experience programs, training on medical terminology, anatomy knowledge, physiology knowledge, and nursing best practices. Qualifications Proven experience in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, home health agencies, or hospice care environments; prior management or supervising experience is highly desirable. Strong background in nursing administration with expertise in acute care settings and nurse management. Familiarity with EMR systems and EHR systems for documentation review and medical records management. Comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and healthcare regulations such as HIPAA and Medicare guidelines. Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to supervise teams effectively while fostering a positive work environment. Excellent shift management skills with the ability to coordinate staffing efficiently across multiple shifts. Knowledge of care plans development tailored to diverse patient populations within outpatient surgical settings. Ability to communicate clearly with multidisciplinary teams while maintaining professionalism under pressure. $130,000.00 - $160,000.00 per year
