An RN Nurse Unit Manager is a senior nursing role responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of a nursing unit or department within a healthcare facility. The position blends clinical oversight, leadership, and administrative management to ensure high-quality patient care and operational efficiency.

Core Responsibilities Supervision & Staff Management :

Oversee recruitment, hiring, training, evaluation, and retention of nursing staff; mentor less experienced nurses; provide clinical and career guidance.

Patient Care Oversight :

Monitor patient care quality, review individual cases, and ensure compliance with care plans, HIPAA, and regulatory standards.

Communication & Collaboration :

Serve as a liaison between nursing staff, physicians, residents, families, and upper management; coordinate with interdisciplinary teams.

Policy & Procedure Development :

Implement and update unit policies, procedures, and quality assurance programs.

Budget & Resource Management :

Develop, manage, and monitor unit budgets; allocate resources effectively.

Conflict Resolution & Staff Support :

Address staff concerns, resolve conflicts, and maintain a positive work environment.

Compliance & Safety :

Ensure adherence to federal, state, and facility regulations; maintain confidentiality of resident information.
