Atrium Medical Center The Critical Care Unit is a 25-bed inpatient nursing unit specializ ing in the care of adult medical/surgical patients and cardiovascular/cardiothoracic surgical patients . The unit is equipped to provide post operative care and recovery of cardiovascular and cardioth oracic surgical patients including open heart, thoracotomy, endarterectomy as well as percutaneous cardiac intervention and acute myocardial infarction. Patients that are admitted to the critical care unit here may require all or any of the following: intensive monitoring of lab values, hemodynamic pressure monitoring, mechanical ventilation, administration and titration of vasoactive and/or neuromuscular blocking agents or recovery from anesthesia. Ultra Filtration (UF) Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP), Continuous Renal Reperfusion Therapy (CRRT), Impella Device, Targeted Temperature Management (TTM). The Clinical Nurse is a registered nurse (RN) who partners with and advocates for patients/families/significant others to provide physical, emotional and spiritual support which impacts patient outcomes in a safe environment. The RN functions in a versatile role that demonstrates professionalism and promotes excellence and autonomy in the practice of Nursing. The RN utilizes the nursing process in conjunction with evidence-based principles to care for a diverse caseload of patients within the department scope of service. The RN serves as guide, healer, collaborator, teacher, leader and sentry. The RN collaborates with and guides care delivered by the inter-professional team. The RN is accountable for compliance with the Ohio Nurse Practice Act, Nursing Code of Ethics and applicable regulatory standards
Education Minimum Level of Education Required:
Bachelor's degree Additional requirements: Type of degree : Nursing Area of study or major : Graduate from an accredited school of nursing Preferred educational qualifications : BSN or BSN completion within 5 years required Position specific testing requiremen t: N/A Licensure/Certification/Registration Valid Ohio RN License Current BLS Specialty certifications may be required depending on unit Professional certification preferred
Experience Minimum Level of Experience Required:
1 - 3 years of job-related experience Prior job title or occupational experience: N/A Prior specific functional responsibilities: Minimum 2-year experience as an RN Preferred experience: 1 year of Informal Leadership experience preferred Other experience requirements: N/A Knowledge/Skills Excellent communication Relationship management and influencing behaviors Solution-focused issue identification and problem solving Ability to maintain composure under pressure Foster inclusive and trusting work environment Appropriate clinical practice knowledge Proven leadership ability Personal and professional accountability Time management and organizational skills Computer skills including comfort with Microsoft Office and other commonly used applications
