CNA/CMA Staff Job Summary:
Coordinate, plan, implement, delegate, and evaluate the nursing care functions of the neighborhoods to provide quality care to residents.Specific Responsibilities:
1. Upon resident admission, initiate a comprehensive plan of care and educate support personnel in appropriate nursing care for the resident per standards of nursing practice, policies, and procedures. 2. Regularly participate in the resident care conference to facilitate the application of the nursing process. Monitor resident care daily. Make rounds with physicians as needed; carry out physician orders in a timely and accurate manner; coordinate care with other healthcare professionals; monitor daily medications; and chart care in health records. 3. Participate in monitoring and evaluating activities to provide quality improvement in resident care. Assist in identifying opportunities to improve care and correct problems, identifying patterns and trends of single clinical events that warrant evaluation. 4. Supervise the residents' diets, making necessary evaluations and initiating adjustments as needed. 5. Provide education tailored to the healthcare needs of the residents. 6. Document the resident/family's ability to comprehend and implement this education. 7. Reinforce education as necessary. 8. Provide input to the Director of Nursing regarding the resident care delivery system, clinical competence of nursing staff members, and their ability to perform specific nursing care. 9. Coordinate, direct, and supervise the daily work of the nursing assistants. 10. Is aware of moral, legal, and ethical obligations in providing resident care and demonstrates respect for all residents. Always maintain confidentiality in resident matters. 11. Receive report from outgoing shift and provide a concise, pertinent, and informative end-of-shift report to the next shift. 12. Participates in all training functions and in-service sessions as requested; serves on standing committees as requested, assists with orientation or cross-training of new personnel, and acts as a mentor to new or developing team members. 13. Initiate, investigate, and document nursing interventions for team member/resident incidents or accidents. 14. Adhere to safety and infection control regulations; identify safety hazards and emergencies, and initiate corrective action as appropriate. 15. Demonstrate sound assessment skills, therapeutic communication techniques (verbal and nonverbal), listening abilities, and positive customer relationship skills. 16. Ability to observe changes in residents' condition.Qualifications:
- Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing and be currently licensed in the state of Oklahoma.
- Prefer two years of work experience in gerontology.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English.
- Manual dexterity to handle delicate instruments and other equipment.
- Ability to work under stress.
