Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Director of Nursing (DON) to lead our nursing team in providing exceptional care within a dynamic healthcare environment. The DON will oversee all nursing operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, maintaining high-quality resident care, and fostering a positive, patient-centered culture. This role offers an exciting opportunity to influence care delivery, mentor nursing staff, and uphold the integrity of our facility's mission to deliver compassionate health services. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in assisted living, nursing home experience, and nursing administration, combined with leadership skills that inspire excellence. Duties Lead and coordinate the nursing team to deliver comprehensive resident care aligned with established care plans and regulatory requirements. Oversee daily shift management, ensuring adequate staffing levels and efficient workflow across all units. Review medical records, documentation, and medical records to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with HIPAA regulations. Supervise the development and implementation of individualized care plans for residents, integrating physiology and anatomy knowledge for optimal health outcomes. Manage MDS (Minimum Data Set) assessments to support quality reporting and reimbursement processes such as Medicare. Ensure adherence to all federal, state, and local regulations related to assisted living, hospice care, acute care, home health, and other healthcare services provided. Oversee EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems and EHR (Electronic Health Records) documentation to streamline clinical workflows. Provide leadership in nurse management activities including hiring, training, supervising staff, and conducting performance reviews. Maintain compliance with HIPAA standards by safeguarding medical records and sensitive resident information. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure high standards of patient safety, quality of care, and resident satisfaction. Skills Extensive experience in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospice care, or acute care settings. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and nursing practices essential for comprehensive resident care. Proven management skills with supervising experience in a healthcare environment; ability to lead teams effectively. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for documentation review and medical records management. Deep understanding of HIPAA regulations and confidentiality protocols related to medical records. Expertise in developing and managing care plans tailored to individual resident needs while ensuring regulatory compliance. Experience with Medicare processes including MDS assessments and reimbursement procedures. Excellent leadership qualities with the ability to motivate staff while fostering a collaborative team environment. Strong organizational skills for shift management, documentation review, and maintaining accurate medical records. Ability to communicate effectively with residents' families, staff members, healthcare providers, and regulatory agencies.
