No Location CountyWestchester Street AddressDOH NYS Veterans Home at Montrose 2090 Albany Post Road CityMontrose StateNY Zip Code10548 Job Specifics Duties DescriptionAt the direction of the Director of Nursing, the Registered Nurse (RN) Supervisor 1 will serve as Staff Development Coordinator and shall develop and implement all activities toward the fulfillment of the philosophy, goals, and objectives of the Staff Development Department and the Home. The RN Supervisor 1 will be responsible for planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating the Staff Development programs. The incumbent will develop materials for in-service training activities and establish policies and procedures relating to educational programs to ensure compliance with mandates of regulatory agencies. They will coordinate the training relevant to all departments and ensure that staff certification is up to date. In addition, to community outreach and education. The RN Supervisor 1 will provide mandatory in-services to all levels of staff (management, dietary, engineering, etc.). The incumbent will also conduct post-training evaluations of staff and training program and advise department manager of deficiencies and take appropriate corrective action. The RN Supervisor 1 will participate in committees focusing on topics such as infection control and safety to ensure areas of concern are addressed in the training programs. The incumbent will review and investigate complaints and grievances made by department personnel pertinent to the functions of staff development.
Minimum QualificationsTransfers:
Current New York State employee with one or more years of permanent, contingent-permanent, or 55 b/c service that is eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law to Registered Nurse Supervisor 1.
Promotion Provisional:
In the absence of an eligible list with three or more candidates willing to accept a position, a provisional appointment may be considered. For provisional appointment, candidates must meet one of the following minimum qualifications: Possession of a license and current registration as a registered professional nurse in New York State and current New York State employee with one years of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as a Either 1. Registered Nurse 2 (and all parenthetics) or Registered Nurse 3 (and all parenthetics); Or Any Grade 18 or higher position that requires a license and current registration as a registered professional nurse in New York State. If less than three interested and qualified New York State Department of Health employees serving in the direct-line, lower-level title(s) within the agency apply to this opportunity, the agency may make a non-competitive appointment under the
NY HELPS
program.
Open Competitive HELPS qualifications:
Possession of a license and current registration as a registered professional nurse in New York State; and three years of post-licensure clinical nursing experience. •
Substitution:
a bachelor's degree in nursing can substitute for one year of post-licensure clinical nursing experience; and a master's degree in nursing can substitute for two years of post-licensure clinical nursing experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
The preferred candidate should have nursing experience with the geriatric populations and experience as a Staff Development Coordinator and instructor. The posted salary range ($132,178
  • $143,230) includes statutory hiring rate at step 4 and job rate for PS&T Grade 22, an additional geographic pay differential of $35,000, and a downstate adjustment of $4,000.
If applicable a there is a $575 inconvenience pay for evening or night shift and 10% shift differential for night shift and 7% shift differential for evening shift. This position is part of the
