You will coordinate patient flow, support clinical decision-making, mentor staff, and ensure high-quality, evidence-based care. This role is a vital step in Lexington Health's clinical leadership pathway, offering hands-on leadership experience in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment. Essential Functions Build positive rapport with patients and families Promote patient independence through education and clear communication Serve as a patient and family advocate Ensure continuity of care through accurate, timely documentation Apply systematic critical thinking to assess, intervene and evaluate patient needs Use sound clinical judgment to respond to dynamic situations Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical decision-making Ensure adherence to therapeutic standards, policies and regulatory requirements Support multidisciplinary collaboration to resolve patient needs Participate in performance improvement initiatives using evidence-based practice Maintain a safe, clean environment and uphold infection-control standards Hold team members accountable to standards of care and bedside reporting Serve as a teacher, coach and mentor to nursing staff Contribute to the development and revision of unit standards Demonstrate effective conflict resolution and problem-solving skills Lead and support process improvement initiatives Leadership Responsibilities Foster interdisciplinary communication and collaboration Support shared governance through committee participation Serve as a resource and role model for professionalism and patient care Provide feedback to the Nurse Manager regarding unit operations and staff performance Coordinate timely patient throughput (admissions, transfers, discharges) Ensure staffing assignments reflect patient acuity and nurse competency Advocate for appropriate nursing resources Maintain equipment readiness and support evaluation of new technologies Respond promptly to communication devices to meet patient needs Support student learning experiences in collaboration with instructors Maintain professional knowledge through continuing education (20 hours annually) Ensure proper handling of hazardous waste per RCRA requirements Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
Education Bachelor of Science in Nursing required
Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of experience in the specialty area within the past 5 years
Licensure & Certifications:
Current South Carolina RN license
