Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Weekend Nursing Supervisor RN to lead and coordinate nursing care during weekend shifts. This vital role ensures the delivery of high-quality patient care, maintains compliance with healthcare standards, and supervises nursing staff to foster a collaborative and efficient environment. Responsibilities Oversee daily nursing operations during weekend shifts, ensuring adherence to clinical protocols and safety standards. Supervise and support nursing staff, including registered nurses (RNs), licensed practical nurses (LPNs), and certified nursing assistants (CNAs), fostering teamwork and professional development. Coordinate patient assessments, vital signs monitoring, and medical documentation using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner. Facilitate communication among interdisciplinary teams, including physicians, therapists, and case managers, to optimize patient care plans. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations, infection control procedures, and state/federal healthcare laws. Manage emergency situations such as airway management, ventilator use, or acute pain management with confidence and professionalism. Conduct patient evaluations involving physical examinations, medication administration, IV infusion procedures, catheter care, and wound management. Support discharge planning, family education, and coordination of post-hospital care for patients with complex needs such as dementia care or behavioral health conditions. Requirements Valid RN license with current state registration; BSN preferred. Proven experience in critical care environments such as ICU or Level I Trauma Centers; ICU experience highly valued. Extensive knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding, and documentation standards. Hands-on experience with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth; proficiency in medical records management. Strong leadership skills with previous supervising or nurse management experience; ability to motivate teams during high-pressure situations. Competency in performing medical procedures including phlebotomy, sterile technique, suturing assistance, and specimen collection/processing. Knowledge of specialized areas such as geriatrics, dementia care, pediatric nursing (including neonatal ventilator management), or behavioral health is desirable. Ability to work independently while maintaining excellent patient care standards; flexible availability for weekend shifts is essential. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; additional certifications such as Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) are preferred.
