Job Description

Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated PACU Manager-RN to oversee the post-anesthesia care unit within a dynamic healthcare environment. This leadership role involves managing nursing staff, coordinating patient recovery processes, and ensuring compliance with all healthcare regulations. The ideal candidate will possess extensive critical care experience, strong team management skills, and a comprehensive understanding of medical documentation, EMR systems, and patient care protocols. As a PACU Manager-RN, you will play a pivotal role in delivering exceptional postoperative care, fostering a collaborative team atmosphere, and maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality. Responsibilities Lead and supervise the PACU nursing team to ensure efficient patient recovery and safety protocols are followed. Coordinate patient assessments, vital signs monitoring, and physiological evaluations during post-operative recovery. Oversee medical documentation accuracy, including medical records, anesthesia records, and discharge summaries using EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner. Ensure compliance with hospital policies, state healthcare regulations, HIPAA standards, and accreditation requirements. Manage patient flow within the PACU by prioritizing cases based on acuity levels such as Level I Trauma Center or Level II Trauma Center experiences. Facilitate communication between surgical teams, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare providers to optimize patient outcomes. Implement infection control procedures and aseptic techniques during patient care activities. Conduct staff training on IV insertion, catheter care, ventilator management, airway management, and other critical nursing skills. Participate in discharge planning and collaborate with case management for seamless patient transitions. Monitor quality metrics related to patient care, pain management, and complication prevention; utilize data for continuous improvement. Qualifications Valid RN license with current registration; BSN preferred. Minimum of five years of nursing experience with significant exposure to acute care settings such as ICU or hospital medicine. Proven supervisory or nurse management experience within a high-acuity environment. Extensive critical care experience including ventilator management, cardiac catheterization support, and trauma center procedures. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner; proficiency in medical documentation and ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10). Strong knowledge of physiology, pharmacology related to anesthesia recovery, and medication administration protocols. Ability to lead a multidisciplinary team effectively while maintaining high standards of patient safety. Knowledge of hospital regulations including HIPAA compliance and long-term care regulations if applicable. Excellent communication skills with the ability to coordinate across departments seamlessly. $80,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
