Responsibilities Lead and coordinate nursing staff to ensure seamless delivery of patient care across all shifts. Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history reviews. Oversee medication administration, IV infusion procedures, catheter care, and wound management following best practices. Utilize EMR (Electronic Medical Records) and EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems such as Epic or Cerner to document medical records accurately and efficiently. Supervise clinical activities such as specimen collection/processing, diagnostic evaluations, and medical documentation compliance with HIPAA regulations. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams on discharge planning, case management, and triage to optimize patient outcomes. Ensure infection control protocols are strictly followed and maintain sterile processing standards. Provide guidance on complex cases involving Alzheimer's care, dementia care, pain management, or acute trauma situations including Level I/II trauma center procedures. Support staff training on advanced skills like airway management, ventilator use, catheterization, or suturing techniques. Promote a culture of safety by monitoring vital signs, conducting physical examinations, and assessing patient physiology knowledge regularly. Experience Valid RN or LVN license with current state licensure required; additional certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred. Proven experience in critical care environments such as ICU or emergency medicine; hospital or trauma center experience highly valued. Demonstrated expertise working with diverse populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, individuals with developmental disabilities or those requiring hospice or memory care services. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks; proficiency in
ICD-9/10
coding and medical terminology essential. Hands-on experience with IV insertion, phlebotomy, medication administration via injections or IV lines, and aseptic techniques required. Knowledge of complex medical procedures such as cardiac catheterization or spinal taps is advantageous. Strong assessment skills in acute pain management, infectious disease care, trauma response protocols, and post-acute care planning preferred.
