JOB DESCRIPTION
The Nurse Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, coordination, and management of a designated patient care unit within a hospital. This role ensures the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centered care while maintaining compliance with regulatory and organizational standards. The Nurse Manager oversees daily clinical operations, including staffing, workflow, and resource allocation, and provides direct supervision and support to nursing and ancillary staff. He/She is accountable for staff performance management, professional development, and fostering a collaborative, positive work environment. This position plays a key role in quality improvement initiatives, patient safety programs, and performance monitoring by analyzing clinical outcomes, addressing variances, and implementing evidence-based practices. The Nurse Manager also collaborates with physicians, interdisciplinary teams, and hospital leadership to ensure continuity of care and achievement of organizational goals. The role includes budget oversight, policy implementation, regulatory compliance, and participation in strategic planning efforts to enhance patient care services and operational efficiency.
EDUCATION
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited school of nursing required. Master's or postgraduate degree in Health Services Administration, Business Administration, Nursing, or a clinical-related field preferred upon hire or recommended within 5 years of employment. Certification as a Nurse Manager and Leader (CNML) preferred.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum of 3 years' clinical nursing leadership experience required.
LICENSURE/CREDENTIALS
Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing within the State of Washington or ability to attain one is required. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
