Summary:
The Food Service Worker will assist the manager with food/meal preparation; maintain cash receipts and meal records. Assist manager in completing daily reports. Maintain high standards of quality in food production, sanitation, and kitchen safety practices.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Prepares food using standardized recipes, including washing chopping, and portioning, often working in a fast-paced environment. Cleans and sanitizes work areas, kitchen equipment, and dining areas during preparation of food and after serving of food. Documents food temperatures, meal counts, and inventory usage to meet federal, state, and district requirements. Operates ovens, steamers, slicers, mixers, and other kitchen machinery safely. Manages student meal accounts and operates point-of-sale systems. Understand what is inclusive of a meal. Ensure storage of food in an accurate and sanitary manner. Serve food according to meal schedules, department policies, and procedures. Adhere to all food safety regulations for sanitation, food handling, and storage. Adhere to the uniform policy. Washing of dishes during preparation and after serving of food. Sweeping and mopping kitchen area. Interacts with staff, students, faculty, visitors, and coworkers in a pleasant and professional manner. Taking out the trash. Keeping storage room, walk-in-freezer and refrigerator clean and orderly. Recording usage of commodities. Informing manager or director of supplies and food items needed in their area. Cleaning and care of all kitchen equipment. Serving of food in an efficient and friendly manner. Clean dining room daily. Weekly inventory of all food and supplies. All other duties as assigned by administration. Physical demands The physical demands of this position include but are not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, kneeling, crouching, and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). May require handling of objects that can weigh up to 50 lbs. Training Participates in meetings, training sessions, and seminars, as scheduled. Language Ability Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, recipes, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports, and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but can be loud at times. Exposure to varying temperatures for short and extended periods is customary.
