Job Description

JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for assisting in the certification process of all WIC applicants and working with all WIC staff to ensure client services are met in a timely, efficient manner. Interview participants to obtain basic demographic data; verify identity, residency, and income eligibility by reviewing the presented paperwork; and enter all data into the
CT-WIC MIS
software system. Provide individual and group nutrition education counseling to low-risk children. Provide WIC Program participant services and conduct clerical duties, including scheduling appointments, updating demographic data, and answering phones. Required Skills
QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or GED equivalency with at least 2 years of experience working in a medical office or performing clerical duties OR Associates Degree from an accredited institution with a major in diet tech or health related program plus 1 year of work experience or currently enrolled in nutritional/health sciences plus equivalent work experience OR Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year institution with a major in foods and nutrition, community nutrition, nutrition education, nutritional sciences, health education or medical sciences Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with WIC participants, agency staff, and external partners. Strong customer service skills. The ability to establish rapport with individuals and small groups. Strong critical thinking skills. Computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft office suite. Bilingual applicants strongly encouraged.
