Job Description

POSITION POSTING
Nutritional Services Specialist
DEPARTMENT
:
Nutrition/Food Services STATUS:
Fulltime, 32hr.
HOURS :
Variable day and afternoon shifts may be required to provide department staffing. Requires working weekends and holidays on a rotational basis. Low Census may be required to support workload demand.
ROLE/POSITION DEFINITION
Under the supervision of the Nutrition/Food Director, performs a variety of duties such as preparing hot and cold food for patients, families, staff meals and special events; cleaning; storage of food, supplies and equipment.
QUALIFICATIONS/POSITION REQUIREMENTS/PERSONAL SKILLS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
§ High School graduate or equivalent § Certification in "ServSafe," preferred. § Previous food service experience in a health care setting preferred § Ability to communicate fully in the English language § Training in food management, diet therapy preferred § Ability to establish effective working relationships and effective communication with peers, patients, families, physicians and other support personnel § Supports and contributes to the total hospital system by maintaining hospital-wide perspective and serving on department/hospital committees as requested § Ability to follow a series of instructions accurately § Ability to operate or learn to operate various kitchen equipment and cash register § Simple math concepts to include counting and measuring/weighing portions. § Maintains a positive perspective/attitude § Subject to variances in temperature (refrigeration units, heat from stoves and ovens) § Exposure to dishwasher chemicals and nutrition/food service appliance cleaners. Some exposure to clinically infectious disease during indirect contacts in patient units.
