The Minot State University Athletic Department is seeking a dedicated and proactive Graduate Assistant to support the operation of the Nutrition and Human Performance Well-Being Center. This position plays a critical role in enhancing the daily performance, recovery, and overall wellness of our student-athletes through efficient management of the Nutrition Center, promotion of healthy lifestyle practices, and upkeep of a clean and organized facility environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Nutrition Center Oversight:
Maintain daily operations of the Nutrition and Human Performance Well-Being Center. Monitor, stock, and manage inventory of nutritional items, supplements, and recovery snacks. Track inventory levels and coordinate with vendors or staff for reordering and deliveries. Serve healthy food and beverage items to student-athletes according to university nutrition guidelines.
Facility Management:
Ensure the nutrition and well-being center is clean, organized, and presentable at all times. Follow and enforce safety and sanitation protocols. Set up and shut down the center at designated hours of operation.
Student-Athlete Support:
Provide educational materials related to nutrition, hydration, recovery, and mental wellness. Collaborate with athletic trainers, strength & conditioning coaches, and academic staff to support holistic student-athlete development. Help develop and distribute educational campaigns (flyers, digital boards, handouts, etc.) to promote well-being best practices.
Administrative Duties:
Maintain attendance and usage records of the Nutrition Center. Assist with data collection, surveys, or wellness assessments as needed. Attend regular staff and department meetings.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Nutrition, Kinesiology, Athletic Training, Health & Wellness, or a related field. Enrollment in a Minot State University graduate program (admission required prior to employment). Strong interest in sports performance, health education, and athlete wellness. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, especially in working with student-athletes. Ability to work independently and take initiative.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience working in collegiate athletics, wellness, or nutrition settings. Knowledge of NCAA nutrition guidelines and performance fueling strategies. CPR/AED certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire). Benefits A Stipend and Tuition Waiver in the amount of 18 credit hours is provided for the academic year. The Tuition Waiver can be applied to fall, spring and summer I semesters.
