Primary Purpose:
Managing special dietary accommodations for students Conduct nutrition education activities for students, staff, and community Train and coach staff on various topics such as food allergies, food production, food presentation, and food safety Develop recipes that increase student acceptance of school breakfast and lunch Assist catering division for district events Teach and proctor
Serv Safe Certification Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor's degree in Nutritional Sciences, Culinary Arts, or a related field required Registered Dietitian, preferred Serv Safe Certified or equivalent food handler's certification Certified or the ability to obtain certification to proctor
Serv Safe Certification Experience:
Three years food service experience, required Two years of experience in institutional food service operations, preferred Previous experience in training, preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Review medical statements, customize diets, and manage menu modifications for students with severe food allergies or medical conditions. 2. Market the Child Nutrition program, promote healthy eating habits, and lead district-wide nutrition education initiatives to promote student wellness. 3. Works with the Menu Coordinator to develop, test, and modify standardized recipes for school breakfast and school lunch insuring compliance with all
USDA & TDA
regulatio 4. Assist Menu Coordinator designing industry-leading menus and promotions that meet USDA and TDA regulations and increase student participation. 5. Provides on-the-job (on-site; hands-on) culinary training and coaching for all current Student Nutrition staff and managers. 6.
