This position is a 188 day contract, 7 hours/day, eligible for benefits on the RCPS Pay Plan Grade 110 beginning August 10, 2026. Interviews will begin immediately and the position will remain open until filled.
Position Description/Job Summary :
The Lead Nutrition Associate will provide services for many aspects of the site Child Nutrition Program (CNP) operation. The job functions include assisting the Nutrition Manager in administering the program, cooking, cleaning, sanitation, and serving the food to meet the financial and nutritional needs as they relate to the program. The Lead Nutrition Associate will partner with others in the school site to provide an environment that supports healthy food habits while maintaining program integrity, sustainability, and customer service.
Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks :
Assists in the daily operation of the school nutrition program by supporting food production, meal preparation and service, inventory management, merchandising, customer service, and compliance with sanitation and safety standards. Under the direction of the Nutrition Manager, helps coordinate work assignments and production schedules, maintains food quality and inventory control practices, and promotes student participation in the program. Serves as the manager's backup when needed, including responsibility for deposits, ordering, reporting, and daily operational documentation. Operates and maintains food service equipment, communicates program information to stakeholders, participates in required training, maintains ServSafe Food Safety Certification, and performs other duties necessary to ensure the efficient operation of the program, including supporting other sites as needed.   • Ability to follow department uniform and hygiene policies
Education and Experience:
Possess a high school diploma or equivalent high school certificate One (1) year school food service experience or related institutional experience Applicants must be at least 21 years of age to work at the high school level.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements :
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Must have the ability to walk and stand for extended periods of time; exhibit manual dexterity to perform all aspects related to food preparation and equipment use. Ability to see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; hear and understand speech at normal levels; physical agility to lift/carry up to 50 pounds; to bend, to stoop, to climb stairs, to walk, to reach overhead, and to use repetitive motion in the same position for extended periods of time. Must have the ability to wear protective attire in the food service operation. Ability to work in kitchens that exhibit moist and hot environments. These requirements are representative, but not all-inclusive of the knowledge, skill, and ability required to perform this job.
