The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of patient-centered care, with expertise in assessing and treating individuals across diverse settings. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by helping patients regain independence, improve functional abilities, and enhance their quality of life through tailored therapeutic interventions. The Occupational Therapist will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement effective care plans that meet each patient's unique needs. Responsibilities Conduct thorough assessments of patients' physical, cognitive, and emotional functioning to determine appropriate therapeutic strategies. Develop individualized treatment plans focusing on enhancing activities of daily living (ADLs), motor skills, and adaptive techniques. Assist patients with discharge planning by coordinating care transitions and providing education for continued therapy at home or in community settings. Work with diverse populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, individuals with disabilities, and those recovering from acute or post-acute care episodes. Implement therapy interventions in various environments such as inpatient units, outpatient clinics, skilled nursing facilities, home health settings, and schools. Collaborate with speech therapists, physiotherapists, case managers, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes. Maintain accurate documentation of patient progress, treatment plans, and care notes in compliance with regulatory standards. Stay current with advances in occupational therapy practices, physiology knowledge, medical terminology, and anatomy to ensure evidence-based care delivery. Qualifications Valid licensure or certification as an Occupational Therapist in the relevant jurisdiction. Proven experience working across multiple settings including inpatient hospital units, outpatient clinics, skilled nursing facilities, or school environments. Strong knowledge of assisting patients with ADLs and developing effective care plans tailored to individual needs. Experience working with individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), disabilities, or in early intervention programs. Familiarity with discharge planning processes and case management principles. Proficiency in medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and therapeutic techniques relevant to occupational therapy. Prior experience in acute care settings such as ICU or inpatient units is highly desirable. Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and educate patients and families about therapy goals.
