TITLE:

JOB DESCRIPTION
To work on an educational team developing, implementing, and monitoring programs favorable to learning and personal growth for visually impaired students (preschool through 8th grade) in the least restrictive environment.
QUALIFICATIONS
Arizona Special Education Teacher certification with Visually Impaired special area Master Degree in special Education (preferred) Ability to travel to more than one work location in the course of the day as assigned Ability to assess needs, develop and implement the IEP, and evaluate outcomes in specialty
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct appropriate language and academic evaluations; develop, implement and monitor appropriate Individual Education Plans (IEP's). Confer and consult with regular classroom teachers regarding student needs and progress. Maintain accurate records for documentation of student progress. Participate in the Multidisciplinary Evaluation Team (MET) process. Plan, conduct and/or participate in in-service professional development activities. Maintain on-going communication (verbal and written) with parents of special education students. Direct activities of instructional assistants and/or personal assistants if applicable. Provide input to performance evaluation for instructional and/or personal assistants to administrators. May be required to participate in student's meetings which occur beyond the staff's work assignment schedule. Perform other duties as assigned.
