Key Qualifications:

Valid Orientation & Mobility Specialist certification. Experience working with children or youth in a school or educational setting preferred. Strong understanding of strategies and best practices in O&M instruction. Collaborative spirit and effective communication abilities within educational teams. Flexibility to adapt to varying student needs and caseload assignments.

Primary Responsibilities:

Deliver direct instruction to students with visual impairments in orientation and mobility techniques, focusing on individualized educational needs. Develop and implement O&M goals based on comprehensive assessments and student IEPs. Consult and collaborate with teachers, related service providers, and families to ensure continuity and effectiveness of services. Monitor and document student progress, maintaining detailed records in compliance with school and district requirements. Participate in IEP meetings and provide insightful recommendations on student service delivery. Adapt and modify instructional materials as needed, drawing from evidence-based practices.
