About Our Team Our Acute Care Float Therapy Team at Hartford Hospital is looking for an experienced clinician who has the clinical expertise and confidence to treat patients across all levels of acute care. The candidate should have a strong understanding of the inpatient hospital setting and the flexibility to work across multiple diverse and complex clinical areas. This would include general medicine-surgical units, step-down, and intensive care units. As a Float Therapist, you'll evaluate and treat patients across multiple inpatient service lines, including:
  • General Medicine
  • Heart, Vascular, Thoracic, and General Surgery
  • Neurology and Neurosurgery
  • Oncology
  • Transplant
  • Emergency Medicine
  • Cardiac Care Our multidisciplinary Float Therapy Team is comprised of Physical, Occupational, and Speech Language Pathologists who work alongside rehabilitation and mobility aides.
Through personalized, evidence-based rehabilitation, this team helps patients achieve their highest level of function and independence by addressing mobility, self-care, energy conservation, therapeutic exercise, swallowing, cognition, communication, and overall recovery. Acute care experience is strongly preferred as this role requires adaptability, critical thinking, and the flexibility to seamlessly support patients and care teams at all levels of their hospital stay. Position Description The Occupational Therapist (OT) independently evaluates, determines the treatment strategies, delivers and/or delegates services that identify, restore and remediate, in order to maximize function in the areas of activities of daily living, leisure/recreation, and productivity/work. Addresses dysfunction in psychosocial skills, cognition, and sensorimotor components. Reports to Manager.   • Acute care working experience or affiliation highly preferred.
  • Graduate of Occupational Therapy Program from an accredited American Occupational Therapy Association school, BS degree or entry level master's degree.
  • Current Occupational Therapist License required.
