July 7, 2026 - August 8, 2026, up to 6 Hours/Day X 20 Days, M-Th
POSITION OVERVIEW
Provide quality school-based therapy services, which includes but is not limited to assessment/evaluation, intervention/treatment, IEP planning and implementation, discharge planning, related documentation, and communication between teachers, teacher assistant, related service providers and families.
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This description of the position of Occupational Therapist is for identification and administrative purposes only. It is not intended to be a complete statement of all duties, which may be assigned or adjusted by the Superintendent of Schools according to varying needs. Evaluates the student\'s ability and formulates the student\'s occupational profile through a variety of functional, behavioral, and standardized assessments, skilled observation, checklists, histories, and interviews Synthesizes evaluation results into a comprehensive written report which reflects strengths and barriers to student participation in the educational environment; directs program development; and guides evidence-based intervention and reviews findings with family and staff. Develops occupationally based intervention plans based on student needs and evaluation results. Participate in IEP/504 process, including collaboratively determining the need for occupational therapy as a related service under IDEA or as a reasonable accommodation under section 504 of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Collaborates with other disciplines to ensure team understanding of student occupational performance strengths and needs, through evaluation, educational program planning, and service delivery. Participates in multidisciplinary meetings to review evaluation results, integrate findings with other disciplines, offer recommendations, and develop individual education plans and intervention plans to achieve IEP goals. Teach and train educational personnel in an effort to help student achieve his or her IEP goals. Provides targeted, evidence-based therapeutic intervention to facilitate student participation and occupational performance within the school environment. Monitors and reassess the effects of occupational therapy intervention and the need to continue, modify, or discontinue intervention. Adapts and modifies the environment including assistive technology and adaptive equipment and training instructional staff to meet individual needs and to help students function as independently as possible.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Connecticut Certified Occupational Therapist and the National Board for Certified Occupational Therapists. Such other qualification as the Board of Education may require. Available in July for required training.
