In this vital role, you will assess, plan, and implement personalized therapy programs to enhance patients' functional independence across a variety of settings. Whether working in inpatient hospitals, outpatient clinics, skilled nursing facilities, or community-based environments, you will play a key role in helping individuals of all ages regain their skills and improve their quality of life. Your expertise will support patients through recovery, rehabilitation, and adaptation to their unique challenges. Duties Conduct comprehensive evaluations to determine patients' physical, cognitive, and emotional needs using physiology knowledge and medical terminology. Develop and implement individualized care plans focused on assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs), mobility, and functional skills. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—including speech therapists, physicians, nurses, and educators—to coordinate effective treatment strategies. Assist patients with discharge planning by preparing them for transitions to home, outpatient services, or other care settings. Work with diverse populations such as individuals with autism, disabilities, geriatrics, pediatrics, and those in early intervention programs. Provide patient care through hands-on therapy sessions in inpatient units, outpatient clinics, home health visits, or skilled nursing facilities. Engage in case management activities to monitor progress and adjust treatment plans accordingly. Educate patients and caregivers on therapeutic exercises, adaptive techniques, and safety measures to promote independence. Maintain accurate documentation of therapy sessions, progress notes, and care plans in compliance with healthcare standards. Requirements Bachelor's or Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program; Florida licensure or certification as required by state law. Proven experience working in acute care settings such as ICU or inpatient hospital units; ICU experience is highly valued. Familiarity with post-acute care environments including skilled nursing facilities and home health services. Experience working with individuals with autism, disabilities, geriatrics, pediatrics, or in early intervention programs. Strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology principles relevant to occupational therapy practices. Ability to interpret medical terminology and collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams. Skilled in developing care plans that address patient-specific goals related to ADLs and functional independence. Excellent communication skills for patient education and team coordination across outpatient clinics or school-based settings. Demonstrated ability to manage caseloads efficiently while providing compassionate patient care.
