Job Description
PRN Occupational Therapist at Blue Ridge Medical Center! Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Occupational Therapist to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this role, you will assess, plan, and implement personalized therapy programs to help patients of all ages regain independence and improve their quality of life. Whether working in inpatient settings, outpatient clinics, schools, or home health environments, you will play a vital role in facilitating recovery and promoting functional abilities. Your expertise will support individuals with diverse needs, including those with disabilities, autism, geriatrics, pediatrics, and post-acute care requirements. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact through patient-centered care while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to develop effective care plans. Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive evaluations of patients' physical and cognitive abilities using physiology knowledge and medical terminology Develop individualized treatment plans focusing on assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs), discharge planning, and rehabilitation goals Implement therapy interventions across various settings such as inpatient units, skilled nursing facilities, outpatient clinics, schools, and home health services Collaborate with physicians, speech therapists, case managers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care and optimize patient outcomes Assist patients in improving motor skills, sensory processing, and functional independence through tailored exercises and activities Support early intervention programs for children with developmental delays or autism spectrum disorder (ASD) Educate patients and their families on therapy techniques, adaptive equipment use, and strategies for ongoing care at home or in community settings Experience Proven experience working as an Occupational Therapist in inpatient hospital units or acute care environments is highly preferred Demonstrated expertise in pediatrics, including early intervention and school-based therapy services Experience providing occupational health services or working within skilled nursing facilities is advantageous Familiarity with post-acute care settings such as outpatient clinics or home health environments is desirable Knowledge of working with individuals with disabilities across age groups—geriatrics, pediatrics, or adult populations—is essential Strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and case management principles to develop effective care plans Prior involvement in discharge planning processes to ensure seamless transitions for patients returning home or to other care facilities Join us to be part of a vibrant team committed to empowering individuals through expert occupational therapy!
