Category Schools - Orientation and Mobility Specialist Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding contract opportunity as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist working with K-12 students near Lavonia, GA. This specialized position is tailored for professionals with expertise in both Orientation and Mobility (O&M) and Vision Impairment (VI). Choose to work as a dual-certified specialist, or serve in one focused area, based on your background and interests. This assignment runs from August 3, 2026, through May 28, 2027, offering up to 8 flexible hours per month per role—or a combined 16 hours if you take on both O&M and VI responsibilities. The caseload is highly manageable, with services provided to a small group of 4-6 students across grade levels K-12. These learners will benefit from your unique skills, supporting their confidence and capability within their school environments.
Qualifications:
Current certification in Orientation & Mobility and/or Vision Impairment Experience working with children or adolescents in an academic or therapeutic setting Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with educational teams and families Dedication to fostering student independence and safety
Responsibilities:
Conduct assessments to identify each student's orientation and mobility needs Deliver tailored instruction in safe, effective travel skills for school, home, and community settings Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other specialists to integrate mobility goals into IEPs or 504 plans Maintain clear documentation of progress and collaborate on student plans throughout the school year If you're seeking a balanced contract opportunity that lets you make a big difference for a select group of students, this role could be perfect.
