Job Description

Occupational Therapist - Hand Therapy (Part-time, Palos Heights) Distinctive Therapy Services •
Palos Heights, IL Schedule:
Monday, Wednesday, Friday | 8 hour/day flexible hours | Start when you're ready
Pay:
Competitive hourly rate based on hand therapy experience and splinting skill set This role is for a different kind of OT. Not the one who tolerates hand therapy between general ortho cases. The one who still looks up tendon protocols for fun. If that's you — read on. Our Palos Heights outpatient clinic has a steady upper-extremity caseload and we need someone who wants clinical ownership, not a supervisor second-guessing their splinting angles. You'll have time for quality care (this is not a treadmill clinic), and you won't be the only person in the room who knows what a volar gutter splint is.
Your typical caseload:
Post-op care: CMC arthroplasty, tendon repairs, nerve decompressions, TFCC, fractures Work-related hand injuries and return-to-work programming RSI/overuse syndromes: carpal tunnel, De Quervain's, lateral epicondylitis Arthritis management and conservative care Scar management, edema control, strength, and return-to-function progression What you'll be doing: Full OT evaluations and goal-driven plans of care for hand/UE cases Custom splint and orthotic fabrication (static, dynamic, post-op, functional) Manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, functional re-training, and modalities as appropriate Clear, timely documentation and progress updates to referring providers Patient education that actually sticks — HEP, precautions, ergonomics, activity modification Direct collaboration with clinic staff and surgeons You'll be a great fit if you have: Active Illinois OT license Hands-on hand therapy experience in outpatient or clinical fieldwork Solid comfort with splinting and post-surgical precautions Confidence communicating with physicians in plain language Consistent availability for MWF coverage Extra credit for: CHT or actively pursuing certification 1+ year outpatient hand/upper-extremity caseload Work comp or return-to-work programming experience Bilingual skills (helpful, not required) What we offer: Reliable M/W/F schedule — no weekends, no surprise shifts 12 week commitment with option to extend as desired or rotate into a new placement A clinic that respects your clinical judgment and your patients' time Low-ego, outcomes-first team culture Competitive hourly rate based on your hand therapy experience Option to expand days as the relationship grows To apply: Submit your resume through Indeed or send it directly to Leonard@distinctivetherapyservices.com. Tell us about your hand therapy background and your comfort level with splinting — that's what we care about most.
Pay:
$50.00 - $60.00 per hour
