Job Description

SUMMARY:
The Hand Therapist is responsible for the evaluation, plan of treatment and education of his/her patients. Based on goals established in the initial evaluation, the Hand Therapist will use professional judgment and skill in carrying out an individual treatment plan for the restoration of patient function. The Hand Therapist will use any skills and/or equipment available in treating patients. The Hand Therapist is responsible for appropriate patient treatment and education. The Hand Therapist is also responsible for the maintenance of an accurate medical record relative to a patient's treatment. The Hand Therapist is responsible for meeting the billing requirement set forth by third party payers and the Lexington Clinic Reimbursement dept.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Formal training which will be indicated by a Bachelor of Science degree, or higher, in Physical Therapy or Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution; current State licensure or eligibility; certification by the Hand Therapy Certification Commission, effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate effectively with members of the medical team, patients and families. Good organizational skills and leadership qualities. Ability to work closely with all levels of clinical staff, management and administration.
PHYSICAL GUIDELINES
Physical guidelines include the ability to move, traverse, position self, remain in a stationary position and negotiate steps for up to eight hours per day; carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds, assist patients in turning, assist patients in arising from exam table, push wheelchair patients, assist patients in arising from and returning to wheelchair and adequately demonstrate therapeutic exercise.
