Job Description

Category Schools - Orientation and Mobility Specialist Job Type Contract Take the next step in your career as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist and make a meaningful impact in a school-based setting near Haverhill, MA! This contract position runs from September 1, 2026, through June 14, 2027, offering an engaging opportunity to work with students ranging from Kindergarten through 12th grade. You'll be instrumental in equipping students with essential mobility and orientation skills, helping them navigate their environments safely and confidently.
Qualifications & Experience Desired:
Active and current Orientation and Mobility Specialist (O&M) License required Experience working with a K-12 student population preferred Strong communication and collaboration abilities Ability to adapt instructional strategies for a range of ages and abilities Passion for supporting the growth and independence of students with visual impairments
Key Responsibilities:
Develop individualized orientation and mobility training for students with visual impairments Conduct ongoing assessments to monitor progress and adjust plans as needed Collaborate with teachers, families, and support staff to create safe, inclusive learning environments Provide direct instruction both individually and in small groups, onsite only Document progress, prepare reports, and participate in student planning meetings
