Job Description

Category Schools - Orientation and Mobility Specialist Job Type Contract This full-time contract position offers the opportunity to work as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) serving a diverse K-12 student caseload. Located in Andover, MA, this role involves supporting students of varying ages to develop independence and confidence in navigating their environments.
Location:
Andover, MA Schedule:
Monday to Friday, 8:15 AM to 3:15 PM (37.5 hours/week)
Contract Duration:
School Year 2025/2026
Work Arrangement:
Onsite only
Key Responsibilities:
Provide specialized orientation and mobility instruction to students with visual impairments across K-12. Assess and develop individualized plans that promote safe and independent travel skills. Collaborate with teachers, families, and other specialists to integrate mobility strategies into daily routines. Monitor student progress and adjust teaching techniques accordingly.
Qualifications:
Active Orientation and Mobility License in Massachusetts. Proven experience working with school-aged children across a broad developmental spectrum. Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively within a school team. Commitment to onsite service delivery, with reliable transportation to and from the school location. This role is ideal for an experienced OMS looking to make a meaningful impact in a supportive school environment. The position provides a full-time schedule within a stable contract framework, encouraging professional growth while focusing on student success.
